The guitar can be found throughout the Karen communities in Thailand, Burma, and abroad. Aside from the Tenakuu it has become the only other major pitched string instrument for the Karen, through adoption. The versatility of the guitar makes it ideal for multiple climates. Much of the modern Karen music utilizes the guitar as the main instrument, this can be seen in in the Karen homeland and throughout the refugee communities around the world. Ths guitar is used as a main instrument of worship in Karen churches and also during music celebrations.[1]
